Hanneka and her infant son with ADD
Received story from Hanneke about her infant son with ADD
The likes and dislikes of ADD
Hi Jochem,
Firstly, I think it's great that you have set up this site, clear explanations and everything is well articulated and I also benefit a lot from the tips.
I myself am not diagnosed with ADD but my 10-year-old son did.
I knew very quickly that he is a special case as a small child he was sometimes quite contradictory very exhausting but also beautiful things he did or said.
When we moved in 2010 and the change proved to be quite intense for him and he was suddenly bullied at school and started performing very poorly, I thought and now I want to know what is wrong with him.
First to a psychologist but he didn't like that and said he didn't understand what he could gain from that. No indeed this did not work.
His master told me about ADD and testing it well anyway and indeed it was ADD.
I read a lot about it and since a month we have been working on lto3 I am very much against medication so I put that off as long as possible.
It is not that he is unruly.
You just have to have a lot of patience with him that is not easy for me as a mum especially since I have two sons who also demand attention of course.
I always try to make him see that he is normal and that he just has something special in his possession he can see everything just a bit better just a bit more in a song or see just a bit more in the woods or come out so funny
It is not always easy you can see he is busy in his head often scratches his hands open and such a wound usually stays open several more times for weeks and sleep is always difficult I often make him listen to spa music when he goes to sleep also he has to have something in his hands he usually has a tangle or a stress ball in his hands
I hope I am doing well and that later he can develop himself well in this world.
Regards Hanneke
